Aeris Velocity Duo Split Fins Review

Aeris Velocity Duo Split Fins

Say the name Aeris to a bunch of your dive buddies and there’s a good chance they’ll look at you with a blank stare. Aeris has been manufacturing dive equipment since 1998, but that’s pretty new by industry standards.

While they may be new, Aeris is starting to gain recognition as one of the best manufactures of SCUBA equipment for sport divers.

Most divers don’t pay a lot of attention when it comes to dive fins, but a good set of fins can significantly increase your enjoyment of diving.

Here’s some information about the Aeris Velocity Duo Split Fins.

Aeris Velocity Duo Split Fins – Overview

Aeris Velocity Duo Split Fins Fins are fins, right?

I mean, how much difference can they make?

Experienced divers know the answers to those questions. All fins are not created equal and different fins will have a significant impact on your diving experience.

When you’re diving to relax and have fun, you want a set of fins that will deliver a lot of power with a minimal amount of effort.

Unfortunately, you usually need to work harder to get more power…unless you’re using fins with superior technology.

That’s exactly what the Aeris Velocity Duo Split fins use.

The Velocity Split Fins give a ton of power with virtually no effort. Here are the features that help them do it.

Aeris Velocity Duo Split Fins – Features

Surprisingly enough, elfin magic isn’t one of the features of these fins even though they seem to defy logic. In the end, it’s all about efficiency.

The Aeris Velocity Duo Split fins use split fin technology to give you a lot of thrust with little effort. The fin is made of materials designed to have different flex. While the outer edges are rather stiff, the actual blade is much more flexible and allows the fin to create a water vortex that’s a lot like the vortex created by a boat propeller.

This vortex-like propulsion method is much more efficient than the traditional paddle design.

In addition, the blade is angled to further increase the fin’s thrust.

In fact, the only time that split fins don’t measure up to traditional fins is when you need to use a kick other than the flutter kick. These fins were designed to be highly efficient at flutter kicking, but they fall short when you try to use a modified flutter or frog kick.

Aeris Velocity Split Fins - Who Should Buy It?

At a little over a hundred dollars, the Aeris Velocity Duo Split fins are on the medium-high end of the dive fin spectrum.

However, the price will be well worth it for anyone who experiences muscle fatigue when diving. With split fins, even weaker divers will be able to keep up without expending a lot of energy.

The Velocity Duo Split fins are a great choice for any open water diver. The only divers who need to look elsewhere are overhead environment divers who need to use a variety of different kicks to get through their dives.
