Aqualung Scuba Equipment some of the best, know doubt about it!
Aqualung Scuba Equipment the first?
A lot of scuba manufacturers claim to be one of the first to manufacture dive equipment, but Aqualung was the first.
Jacques Cousteau himself sat on the Aqualung board of directors until his death.
Today, the Aqualung brand encompasses several other big names in diving including SeaQuest, Apeks, Deep Sea, Aqua Sphere and Dräger.
Through their partnerships Aqualung is able to offer an unparalleled assortment of equipment ranging from gear for the recreational diver to gear for hard-core technical divers. In order to avoid confusion, I’m only going to discuss products that bear the Aqualung logo.
Here are some of the products Aqualung offers.
Aqualung Scuba Equipment - Regulators
When it comes to regulators, Apeks is the jewel in Aqualung’s crown. However, there are several high-quality regulators that are manufactured under the Aqualung label.
Here are some examples.
Legend Series The legend series of regulators are Aqualung’s top-of-the-line breathing machines. These regulators feature overbalanced, environmentally sealed first stages and pneumatically balanced second stages. These regulators also feature venturi adjustment switches and an “Air Turbo System” to enhance the regulators performance.
This line of regulators practically breathes for you.
Titan Series The Titan Series of regulators also utilize the “Air Turbo System” to enhance performance, but this series lacks some of swankier features of the Legend Series.
However they’re still great regulators for the average diver.
Mistral Series These regulators are more for nostalgia than anything else. They look almost exactly like the regulator from the original Aqualung. Of course, this updated version has many enhancements over the original regulator. One great feature of this series of regulators is that the divers’ exhaust bubbles vent behind their head.
Calypso Series This is Aqualung’s inexpensive option for new divers. There’s nothing fancy about this series of regulators, they will work well in average conditions.
Aqualung Scuba Equipment - Buoyancy Compensator
I have to credit Aqualung’s best BCs to SeaQuest (unless you’re talking about technical BCs, then the honor goes to Apeks). In fact, these companies do such a great job producing BCs for Aqualung that there are hardly any BCs that bear the Aqualung logo.
Here are the two that Aqualung still claims as its own.
Wave The Wave is a durable BC that offers divers an inexpensive way to get into the water. No fancy features here, just one unbreakable BC.
Wave, Jr. For younger divers, Aqualung offers the Wave Jr. which is the same as the Wave except it’s smaller, has weight integration and a crotch strap.
A great BC for when junior is ready to dive.
Aqualung Scuba Equipment - Other Equipment
Aqualung scuba equipment offers a full line of dive gear including mask, snorkel, fins, travel bags, wetsuits and more. Aqualung’s line of fins includes their own split fin and a spinoff of Scubapro’s Jet Fins called Rocket fins.
These days Aqualung’s strength seems to be in choosing great partners. Their buyout of SeaQuest gives Aqualung some of the best BCs on the market and their partnership with Apeks gives Aqualung some of the most sought after technical gear.
In addition, Aqualung’s partnership with Dräger adds a semi-closed rebreather to Aqualung’s line.
When diving first made an appearance, Aqualung was the only equipment. Today it’s some of the best. Take some time to see what Aqualung has to offer. You’ll find something no matter what your skill level is.
