You don’t have to be a diver to know the Citizen name. Citizen has been making high quality watches for almost a century.
In fact, I’m willing to bet that every person reading this article has either owned a Citizen or given one as a gift at some point in their life.
So why talk about Citizen watches on a site dedicated to diving? Why not talk about Rolex or Movado? It’s because Rolex and Movado never made a watch as cool as the Citizen Aqualand Dive Watch series.
At least, not as far as SCUBA divers are concerned.
Here’s some more information on the Citizen Aqualand dive watches.
Citizen Aqualand Dive Watch Overview
Citizen designed the Aqualand series with one demographic in mind: divers.
This isn’t one of those watches where they take the standard model and slap a bezel on it and call it a dive watch. The Citizen Aqualand Watch series includes several features that make it exclusively a dive watch.
Don’t misunderstand me. You can wear the Citizen Aqualand watch as an everyday watch too (unlike some dive computer watches that are more like wrist grandfather clocks than they are actual watches), but it’s primarily designed to help you track your time under the water.
Citizen Aqualand Dive Watch – Specs
So what is it that makes the Citizen Aqualand series so special?
First of all, they come in a range of diver-friendly wristband materials (no cloth!). My personal favorite is titanium.
Not only is it highly corrosion resistant and therefore maintenance free, but titanium is unbelievably strong and so light that you’ll forget you’re wearing a watch.
The Citizen Aqualand series also comes with Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology which means the watch will charge itself whenever you’re in sunlight and has a 180-day power reserve to get you through the cloudy days.
Some watches in the Aqualand series even have a depth display that displays your depth to 300 feet, (91m), (deeper than the majority of divers will even think about going) and track the maximum depth and duration of your dive. It can also act a mini dive log by storing up to 20 dives.
In addition to all the features I mention previously, some watches in the Aqualand series also track your surface interval. It really is a mini dive computer.
And, of course, you can still get the beloved bezel on certain watches.
Citizen Aqualand Dive Watch - Who Should Buy It?
These watches are water resistant to 200 – 300 meters, so there are few divers who could take these watches to their maximum depth limits.
Still, technical divers should steer clear of these watches unless they want something they can wear out on the town that won’t crap out when they forget to take it off when they go diving the next day.
The average sport diver, however, can certainly benefit from the Citizen Aqualand series. These watches will take away the pressure of remembering your maximum depth and duration from your dives.
It’s like having an incredibly stylish dive computer on your wrist all the time and like all Citizen watches, the Aqualand watches come with a 5 year warranty.
