Dacor scuba equipment. I love the story of how the Dacor Corporation came into existence.
Two brothers who loved to snorkel decided that they were going to make snorkeling equipment, so they got the stuff they needed and started making their gear in a garage.
If only starting a manufacturing company was that easy today. I might be making a mask right now instead of writing about the people who make them.
It would take a pretty big garage to hold the Dacor Corporation today. Dacor is a multi-national company with a reputation for making affordable equipment for recreational divers.
Here’s some more information about Dacor scuba equipment to give you an idea of what you can expect from them.
Dacor Scuba Equipment - Regulators
When it comes to regulators, Dacor’s motto is “The less you think about it, the better it’s performing.”
Dacor tries to make you forget that you’re even using a regulator. They use a variety of fancy technologies like dynamic flow control and vortex assisted design to make sure your regulator breathes effortlessly. Here are a few regulators from the Dacor line.
Eagle
The Eagle is a solid, no-frills regulator. However if you’re looking for something with more bells and whistles, the Eagle series of regulators comes in a more “supped up” version.
Eagle Pro DPD
The initials “DPD” at the end of this model stand for Dive/Pre-Dive system. This technology helps prevent free-flows on the surface while still providing easy breathing during your dive. In addition, the buoyancy of the second stage is practically neutral. That’s a hard thing to do without using expensive metals like titanium.
Viper
The Viper is an example of Dacor’s innovation. The Viper is a fully balanced regulator that offers several of Dacor’s easy breathing technologies including NBS (Natural Breathing System). In addition to being easy to breath, the Viper vents its exhaust bubbles from one side of the regulator instead of both.
Dacor Scuba Equipment - Buoyancy Compensators
Dacor is known for making durable and inexpensive buoyancy compensators. One of the ways they do this is with proprietary technologies such as Duroskin Cordura® which is abrasion resistant and lightweight. Here are some of the BCs that Dacor offers.
Talon
The Talon is a great BC for a new diver. It offers comfortable padding and weight integration. In addition, there are two manual air dumps to help you deflate your BC easily.
Hemisphere
Dacor’s Hemisphere BC is a stripped down version of the Talon. You still get the comfortable padding and the weight integration, but you lose the manual air dumps and the steel D-rings. If cost is your primary concern, you should take a look at the Hemisphere.
Condor
Frills? What are frills? The Condor is Dacor’s basic buoyancy compensator. This is the BC you’re most likely to see in your dive shop’s rental department. What it lacks in features, it makes up for in durability.
Dacor Scuba Equipment - Other Equipment
Dacor has come a long way since their days in the Davison’s garage.
Today they offer a full line of diving and snorkeling equipment. Dacor’s fins use a patented Optimized Pivoting Blade technology to give you maximum propulsion with minimum effort.
Dacor has also gone high tech with the addition of dive computers to their line.
No matter what you need, Dacor has it. Go to your local dive shop and check out Dacor’s line of equipment.
It’s hard to make a bad choice when you’re dealing with a solid company.
