Divers Alert Network if you are not a memeber then you better be!

Divers Alert Network – DAN

Diving is one of the best sports in the world, but it has the potential to be one of the deadliest.

The vast majority of dives are executed without any problems. Divers book their trips, they do their dives and they go back home with big smiles on their faces. But every once in a while, something goes wrong and that’s when you realize the truth: Most medical professionals and insurance plans are woefully unprepared to deal with diving accidents.

That’s why we have the Diver’s Alert Network (DAN).

DAN is a non-profit organization that’s dedicated to the safety of recreational divers. This organization funds medical research for diving related accidents as well as education programs that teach divers about safe diving practices.

Since 1980 DAN has been providing divers with exceptional services that are unavailable anywhere else.

Here are some examples of the services that DAN offers:

Divers Alert Network - 24-Hour Emergency Hotline

Did something go terribly wrong on a dive?

Do you need help now?

DAN has a 24-hour emergency hotline that can get you the help you need.

Do you have a medical question that’s not an emergency? DAN has a hotline for that too.

This would be a good line to call if you needed information about how to treat a stingray wound.

Divers Alert Network - Emergency Evacuation

Let’s say you’re on a live-aboard in the middle of the South Pacific and you suddenly get hit with decompression sickness. You need to get to a recompression chamber and fast!

Do you think your health insurance is going to pay for an emergency air evacuation in the middle of the ocean? I’m willing to bet that it won’t. But don’t despair.

DAN offers its member $100,000 in emergency evacuation assistance.

Divers Alert Network - Accident Insurance

Many health insurance and life insurance companies consider diving a high-risk activity and refuse to insure individuals for diving related accidents.

DAN steps in to fill the gaps in your coverage with up to $250,000 in accident insurance. You can also get term life insurance up to $200,000.

Divers Alert Network - Equipment Insurance

Dive equipment can be a substantial investment.

A good set of equipment can run thousands of dollars. If you’re into underwater photography your equipment can run tens of thousands of dollars.

Why not insure your investment against theft, loss and damage?

Divers Alert Network - First Aid And Oxygen Classes

Do you know what to do if someone is stung by a Scorpion Fish?

Do you know when you should administer oxygen to someone? Do you know how to administer oxygen to someone?

Can you operate an automatic defibrillator?

DAN offers classes for all of these questions and more. You can never be too prepared. The more you know, the more confident you’ll be as a diver.

Divers Alert Network - Save Lives

DAN’s medical research is constantly improving our knowledge of diving physiology and enhancing treatment of diving related injuries.

Every diver should be a member of DAN.

The membership fee is minimal and the benefits you receive are enormous.
