Mares Quattro Fins which one will you buy?

The Mares Quattro fins have been the world’s best selling diving fin for as long as I can remember.

Its deceptively simple design and low price point makes it irresistible. The Mares Quattro is also easy to kick and delivers a lot of thrust with a minimum amount of effort. If you’re looking for a high quality dive fin that won’t break the bank, this is it.

Today, Mares offers three variations on the Quattro fin. They are the Avanti, Avanti X3 and the Excel.

Mares Quattro Avanti

Mares Quattro Avanti Fins The Quattro Avanti is the Quattro that everyone has come to love. This fin is consistently chosen by more divers worldwide than any other dive fin.

It seems like most dive manufactures make up fancy names for dubious technologies in an effort to get you to pay $200+ to buy their dive fins. Not Mares.

The Quattro Avanti is a basic diving fin that features the original SuperChannel technology which, cups more water in the center of the fin and upper and lower stabilizers to keep the fin from buckling and spilling the water over the sides of the fin.

The design is simple but effective.

The simple design of the Quattro Avanti has another benefit as well – the price. Many dive shops offer the Quattro Avanti for less than $100.

You’d be hard pressed to find better value.

Mares Quattro Plana Avanti X3

Mares Quattro Plana Avanti X3 fins Looking for an even better deal than the Avanti?

The Plana Avanti X3 costs around $75. You won’t find a cheaper dive fin than that anywhere.

The technology used by the Plana Avanti X3 is similar to the Quattro Avanti except the number of channels is reduced and the fin doesn’t cup as much water.

This is the perfect fin for divers on a budget.

Mares Quattro Excel

Mares Quattro Excel fins The Quattro Excel is the modern version of the Quattro fin that comes complete with a host of modern technologies.

Of course, you still get the same SuperChannel technology and stabilizers that you get with the Quattro Avanti. But you also get an optimized pivoting blade to increase your efficiency, channel thrust to increase the propulsion of all the water the SuperChannel collects, ABS buckles to make donning and doffing your fins easier and tri-material construction to optimize the fin’s flex points.

This fin exemplifies what happens when an old favorite goes high tech.

With a price tag hovering in the $150 area, the Quattro Excel is more expensive than the other Quattro models. But even at $150, its still less than many dive fins on the market and all reviews indicate that the Quattro Excel is worth every penny.

There are literally hundreds of dive fins on the market but few have stood the test of time like Mares Quattro fins.

The Mares Quattro fins have been the fin of choice for divers around the world almost since its inception. The combination of low price and high efficiency make this fin a no-brainer.

Have you got a pair of Mares Quattro Fins?

Which ones do you have, the Avanti, Avanti X3 or the Excel? What do you like about your Quattro Fins? What do you dislike about them? Are they worth the money?
