Oceanic Scuba Equipment is more than just dependable

Oceanic scuba equipment started manufacturing equipment in 1972 and it quickly became on of the largest producers of scuba equipment.

This company makes everything from dive knives to diver propulsion vehicles. In fact, you could probably get a completely new set of Oceanic gear every couple of years without ever buying the same thing twice.

Oceanic has a reputation for dependable, inexpensive equipment and that reputation has made it the manufacturer of choice for new divers.

Here’s a small sample of the products Oceanic has to offer:

Oceanic Scuba Equipment - Regulators

Oceanic scuba equipment has four major lines of regulators: EOS, GT, Delta and Alpha. Oceanic also offers “dry valve” technology on some of their first stages that prevents water from entering even if the dust cap is off.

Here’s the scoop on Oceanic’s big four.

EOS
EOS is Oceanic’s new flagship regulator. This is their top-of-the-line breathing machine. It features a balanced second stage with dynamic adjustment and an overbalanced first stage. Translation: This regulator breathes really easy.

Delta 4
This regulator was ScubaLab’s Tester’s Choice in 2005. It has many of the same features as the EOS (minus some extra comfort goodies) and costs about $100 less.

If you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck, go with the Delta 4.

GT 3
The GT 3 is a stripped down model of the Delta 4. It has many of the same features, but lacks the adjustable minimum cracking effort that the Delta 4 has, as well as the mechanical balancing feature. Those features are good to have when your diving conditions become a bit rough, but might not be necessary for all divers.

Alpha 8
The Alpha 8 is your basic “no frills” regulator. While there aren’t any bells and whistles on this regulator set, it’s hard to beat the $260 price tag.

Oceanic Scuba Equipment - Buoyancy Compensators

Oceanic has a lot of buoyancy compensators.

Here are a few of the more popular options.

OceanPro
This is the work horse of the Oceanic family. It’s an inexpensive BC that can take a lot of punishment. If you plan on taking multiple dive vacations and need a BC that can handle being shoved into the bottom of a dive bag over and over again, this is your BC.

Hera
Let’s face it. Women are shaped differently than men. This BC is designed to be more comfortable for women to wear.

Outrigger HLTThis is Oceanic’s tricked up buoyancy compensator. If you’re looking for Oceanic’s top of the line, you’ve found it.

Oceanic Scuba Equipment - Other Equipment

Wetsuits and dive knives and gauges, oh my!

I could go on and on about all the equipment that Oceanic offer. But one item deserves a quick mention – the DataMask HUD.

Do you ever get tired of looking down at your gauges every time you want to check your air or depth? Not a problem with the DataMask HUD. All of your information is displayed in your mask and it’s remarkably easy to read.

Oceanic is the manufacturer of choice for a lot of beginning divers. Their equipment is rugged and inexpensive.

Two qualities you want when you’re not quite confident in your buoyancy control skills yet.
