Putting On A Wetsuit is easy follow these Tips

Putting on a wetsuit is not as easy as putting on normal clothes. Clothes are made to hang off you, whilst a wetsuit is designed to hug your entire body.

If you can pull your wetsuit up your leg like a pair of trousers you probably have a wetsuit that is too big. It needs to be tighter than trousers, way tighter.

Getting your scuba wet suit on and off is not that hard, just follow these couple of tips and you will not have any problems.

Putting On A Wetsuit - 8 must do Tips?

Tip 1
Have handy a plastic bag or a sock, I personally prefer a plastic bag. What for? We will get to that in in the next Tip.

Tip 2
Place the plastic bag over your foot, like a sock and then step into your wetsuit. The plastic bag will help your foot slide through the leg of your wetsuit without catching. No grunting, sweating or swearing, very civilised.

Use the plastic bag on both legs to get the wetsuit started on it's climb over your body. It should be easily and comfortably up to your knees.

Tip 3
This bit is pretty critical, so make sure you get it snug.

Pull the wetsuit up over your thighs and legs, you may have to wiggle a bit and make sure you do not have a gap dangling in your crutch, there should not be any air pockets, if you do the wetsuit is not fitted snug enough. The scuba wet suit needs to be snug right into your crutch. If it is not you will have problems getting the rest of the wetsuit over your shoulders properly.

So now you should have the wetsuit fitted from your waist down, it will feel very firm, almost tight this is okay.

Tip 4
Bring back the plastic bag.

You may not need it, but if the wetsuit is a tight fit in your arms slide them through with the benefit of the plastic bag. Once you arms are in, pull the wetsuit up so it is snug under the arms.

Tip 5
Make sure all the zips are zipped, the last thing you want to do is a backward roll off the dive boat with your zippers open, kind of defeats the purpose of the wetsuit, don't laugh I have seen it happen!

Tip 6
The wetsuit should be pretty much tight all over. You want the areas around your ankles, wrists and neck to be without kinks and smooth on your skin so that no water will enter.

Tip 7
Don't worry if you feel uncomfortable out of the water. The wetsuit was designed for in water use as soon as it is wet it will become more flexible and most important of all it will be warm.

Tip 8
Never be afraid to ask your buddy for some help, sometimes an extra bit of muscle will get the wetsuit into the perfect position.

This is the easiest way I know of putting on a wetsuit.

Taking Your Wetsuit Off?

The key to taking your wetsuit off is to peel it off so it ends up inside out.

Undo the zipper and pull the wetsuit over your shoulders, you may need some assistance getting it over your shoulders, but generally from here it is easy to peel it off.

One thing to remember when taking the arms of your wetsuit off is to make sure you do not have your watch or wrist mounted dive computer on as the wetsuit will not come off.

Once your arms are out peel the remainder of the suit down your torso over your hips until you get to your knees.

From here do one leg at a time, keep peeling it so it is inside out and make sure you have already removed your booties.

If you need to, get your buddy to help get it past your ankles, but I find the best way is to run your hands down along your leg on the inside of your wetsuit and gently leaver the remaining wetsuit over your ankle, once you have it over your ankle you are as good as done, just do the same to your other leg and presto your done!
