Scuba Diving Skins any colour, any shape, which do you want?

There is a scuba diving wetsuit for all conditions and tropical warm water is no exception. Scuba Diving Skins are ideal for warm water.

These scuba diving skins or lycra suits are not designed with the intention of keeping you warm, there insulating properties are limited, but they do serve a number of other purposes.

Before scuba diving skins or lycra wetsuits become fashionable, warm water divers use to dive in shorts and tee shirts, yep that's right in the dark ages we use to dive in our clothes.

However we have now moved on.....

What are Scuba Diving Skins made of?

Scuba diving skins are made of Lycra. Lycra is a man made elastane fiber, which is always blended with other fibers. It can stretch up to seven times its initial length before springing back into its original shape.

This makes scuba diving skins made of lycra very easy to get on and off, it will stretch over all your contours and hug them. This may be good or bad.

Why do we use Scuba Diving Skins?

When we dive in water above 80 degrees F or 27 degrees C, the insulating properties of a neoprene wetsuit are not as important.

Scuba diving skins are ideal for this water temperature and they assist in a number of other ways.

Protection
Lycra bodysuits provide protection both in the water and out.

In the water they protect you from cuts and scratches from coral or should I say your poor buoyancy control.

Out of the water scuba diving skins are light and do not cause you to overheat and are ideal for protection from the sun and it's rays. Sunburn is definitely a holiday killer.

Some scuba divers wear a lycra suit under there main 5mm or thicker wetsuit, they say it makes it easier for them to get in and out of it, as the wetsuit slides over the lycra far easier than over your skin.

Another plus for the scuba diving skins is the fact that they do not take up much space in your luggage when you travel, this is a huge advantage, not to mention that they are light as well.

For the fashion conscious lycra wetsuits are also a godsend, as you can be colour coordinated, you name it and you can get pretty much any colour or pattern you want. You can get yourself a hot pink scuba diving skin to match your hot pink mask, snorkel and fins.
