Are You Part Of The Scubapro Cult?

Few dive equipment manufacturers have a reputation as strong as Scubapro.

For over 40 years Scubapro has been an innovator in the diving industry and has produced equipment of outstanding quality. In fact, the quality of Scubapro’s equipment alone would be enough for this dive manufacturer to establish a cult-like following, but Scubapro goes beyond mere equipment construction. Scubapro’s customer service is also legendary.

This hard-to-find combination of superior products and superior service has made Scubapro the industry giant that it is today.

The History of Scubapro

The story of Scubapro begins in the early 60’s when founders Gustav Dalla Valle and Dick Bonin started the company. Since its inception, Scubapro has offered a wide range of products.

In fact, early Scuba Pro customers could even find a recompression chamber and a submarine in Scubapro’s catalog. But even with these eclectic offerings, two Scubapro products stood above the rest.

One of these products was the Automatic Decompression Meter. While these units are no longer sold today, back in 1966 it was a breakthrough in diving technology. This device would become the predecessor for modern dive computers.

As impressive as the Automatic Decompression Meter was, Scuba-pro’s most popular product was produced a year earlier.

In 1965, Jet Fins were born. Even after over 40 years, these fins remain incredibly popular; especially in the technical diving community. Today, Jet Fins are one of the most copied pieces of scuba equipment in history.

Scubapro’s Claim to Fame

While Scubapro does make exceptional equipment, their real claim to fame is their service.

Scuba Pro knows that they have a cult following and they make sure that their customers are rewarded for their loyalty. One way that Scubapro does this is by giving their customers free parts for regulator service for the life of their regulator. So long as they get the regulator serviced every year, Scubapro pays for the parts when the regulator is serviced by a certified Scubapro technician.

But Scuba-pro’s service doesn’t end there…

Back when I was a divemaster working in a dive shop, a guy came in to get his Scubapro Pilot regulator serviced (the predecessor of the D400). Unfortunately, Scubapro no longer made the parts for this 20 year old relic. But this guy had had his regulator serviced every year for the past 20 years and had the documentation to back it up. We sent his regulator along with the documentation to Scubapro to see what they could do. A couple weeks later, we got a box back with a letter.

The letter apologised and said that there was no way that his regulator could be repaired. It went on to thank the gentleman for being such a loyal customer for the past 20 years. Finally it said, “Since we can no longer offer you service on your previous regulator, please except the enclosed as a replacement.” Scubapro had sent this guy a brand new Mark 20/D400 regulator. Now that’s service!

Scubapro’s reputation for quality and service are virtually unsurpassed in the diving industry. If you’re looking for high quality equipment and excellent customer service, take a look at some Scubapro gear. It will be well worth your time.
