Tusa Scuba Equipment
Today, interest in the sport of scuba diving isn’t confined to western civilization and it wasn’t back in the early fifties when the sport was first developing either.
In fact, back in 1952 there was a man named Kazuo Tabata in Tokyo whose passion for the water rivaled that of Sam and Don Davison of Dacor.
Like the Davison brothers, Kazuo started his company out of his garage. His handmade masks and goggles were some of the finest that a diver could purchase. Before long, the Tusa Corporation was born.
Tusa scuba equipment is known its high quality dive equipment and the company is credited with creating the silicone mask skirt that’s now an industry standard.
Tusa is much larger today than it was in the fifties both in the size of their operation and the scope of their products. No longer confined to making solely dive masks, Tusa also makes regulators, buoyancy compensators, gauges, dive accessories, and even golf clubs and other outdoor equipment.
Here’s some more information about Tusa’s scuba equipment:
Tusa Scuba Equipment - Regulators
Tusa’s current line of regulators is about 8 sets strong with an additional two redundant second stages (octopi). All of Tusa’s regulators are durable and reasonably priced. Like Dacor, Tusa is known for making inexpensive equipment for recreational divers.
Here are a few regulators from the Tusa line to give you an idea of what they offer.
RS-110 Platina This set is a combination of the Tusa R-100 first stage and their S-10 second stage (R-100 + S-10 = RS-110. Cute huh?) Most first stages that look similar to the R-100 are unbalanced, but Tusa uses a unique “in-line” technology that allows this compact regulator design to be fully balanced.
That means you get a balanced regulator without the awkward positioning issues that come with most other balanced first stages.
RS-340 This regulator set combines the R-300 first stage with the S-40 second stage. The R-300 is an overbalanced first stage meaning that it’s even easier to breathe than a balanced first stage. In addition, the S-40 offers an adjustment knob to make the regulator even easier to breathe.
Using this regulator feels like breathing air on the surface.
Tusa Scuba Equipment - Buoyancy Compensators
I could go on for hours about Tusa regulators, but then you’d miss all of the great information about their BCs.
Perhaps the best feature of Tusa BCs is their cost. Like all Tusa scuba equipment, Tusa BCs give you a lot of bang for your buck. Tusa’s current BC line consists of around 9 BCs.
Here’s some information on a couple of them.
BCJ-2100 If you owned a dive shop, this is what you’d put in your rental department. It’s durable and inexpensive making it a great choice for divers on a budget.
BCJ-5560 Platina Evolution Cubic This BC offers more lift and more features than the BCJ-2100. In addition, this BC offers weight integration – something I consider to be a vital feature. You’ll pay more for this BC than the BCJ-2100, but the extra money will be well worth it.

What doesn’t Tusa make?
You can get masks, snorkels, fins, diver propulsion vehicles, nuclear arms and even golf clubs. I may have been exaggerating about the nuclear arms but short of weapons of mass destruction, Tusa does it all.
